For Immediate Release:

ROYSE CITY, Texas (July 1, 2024) – Royse City Emergency Hospital would like to inform our community that over the weekend, we received a false bomb threat through email communication. The hospital’s emergency response protocols were immediately activated, and local law enforcement was contacted to investigate the threat thoroughly where the facility was deemed safe and clear.

On Saturday, June 30, around 5 p.m., our hospital received threatening email communication that “the facility would explode in 24 hours.” The facility then enacted its “Bomb Threat Plan,” contacted authorities, and took all of the necessary precautions for the safety of patients and staff.

Upon thorough investigation by the Royse City Police Department, it was determined that the threat was not credible, and there was no danger to the patients, staff, or visitors of Royse City Emergency Hospital at any point during this incident.

“This was a serious threat, and we took every precaution to make sure our patients, colleagues, and community remained safe during an unfortunate and dangerous incident, despite its false nature,” said Matt Young, MD, FACEP, Chief Medical Officer and Medical Director of Royse City Emergency Hospital.

As a precautionary measure, the Royse City Police Department completed an extensive sweep of the facility. The facility also will continue to act under its “Crisis Communication Plan,” featuring a security patrol of the interior and exterior parts of the facility and how to report any findings.

“As we pride ourselves on patient care and safety, we also pride ourselves as being a community partner. We appreciate our patients, colleagues, administrative team, and always our heroes- law enforcement for professionally handling this matter,” said Dr. Young. “We would like to thank everyone who reached out.”

Royse City Emergency Hospital has resumed normal operations, and all services are functioning as usual.

For anyone who may have more information on the situation, contact the Royse City Police Department as the investigation continues.
